The Local Government Bulletin falls under the group of Government publications. It contains items on various subjects. It announces the meeting dates and times for Taxi Driver’s Examination Board for various city and District Councils. The paper also publishes imposition of taxes, results of Local Government elections, nomination and election of members of both Regional and National Houses of Chiefs, applications for registration of Trade marks, collective bargaining certificates, companies entitled to commence business, valuation lists of city and District Councils etc.
Of all the articles in the Local Government bulletin, the most captivating and enticing for our patrons who are mostly chiefs is the notice of changes affecting the status of certain chiefs. This aspect of the publication records, Enstoolment/Recognition, destooment/withdrawal of recognition, abdication, death and re-instatement of chiefs and Queen mothers in the Country.
It is of particular interest to the Manhyia Archives because it is a very good recipe for conflict and dispute resolution as far as chieftaincy matters are concerned. The collection spans the period between 1960 and 1980.
